My Biography Today, I know that fitness has given me many gifts in my life. I grew up being able to eat almost anything I wanted and not ever having to worry about fitting in to my "little jeans". It wasn’t until around age 23 that I first began gaining weight and not being able to fit into my clothes. One day I saw a picture of myself and realized that I needed to become serious about managing my weight. Shortly thereafter, I visited a local weight loss center and began my journey toward "Yo-Yo dieting. this approach did help me to lose about 20 lbs and get down to a size 10. I felt and looked great. My success at weight loss didn’t last long, however, as I soon began dealing with my life’s problems through eating. Talk about NOT dealing with my feelings in a healthy way!
By the age of 25, I had given birth to my second child and tipped the weight scale at 180 lbs even after losing my "baby fat". Before I knew it, I was a size 14 and back at the weight loss center . Once again, I lost a few pounds and went down to a size 12.
Turning 27 was not a joy for me considering I was now weighing 200 lbs. I became pregnant that year with my 3rd child and ballooned up to 238 lbs. I look back and ask myself, "WOW! How did that happen?" I see pictures of myself back then and can hardly believe I looked like that. I was in complete denial about my weight problems. I couldn't’ figure out why I hated shopping at Lane Bryant? True, they do have some cute clothes, but I felt like I was shopping for someone I didn't know – very strange! I could remember when I would catch glimpses of men looking my way and smiling, but at that time in my life with my weight increasing…absolutely not! I was neither feeling sexy nor much like a woman.
At the age of 28, I had my 3rd child. I was happier than ever to have my first daughter in my life, and I weighed 238 lbs. I lost 38 lbs within the first 6 months of her birth, but I still weighed 200 lbs and was only 5’6" tall. I was wearing a size 16 and still gaining weight. I realized that I needed to do something other than fad weight loss centers, that helped me lose weight temporarily but not consistently nor for long term. I had a difficult time not just eating healthy but being consistent in my diet regimen, AND I never exercised… EVER!
With the help of a dedicated and qualified Trainer and a HEALTHY eating program, I was on my way to a healthier me. I’ve been blessed to have great people in my life to guide and support me in all my changes. Personal growth in a positive direction has been rewarding but it has come with its challenges, and these challenges helped me to lose 60 lbs and gave me stronger and healthier body. I never EVER thought that would be possible for me! The physical and emotional metamorphosis that I experienced made me want to share my successes with everyone I could, and thus I began my life’s journey as a Personal Trainer.
Today, I'm a Mother of four beautiful children, a blessed wife and a Personal Trainer who is continuing to expand my knowledge in the fitness industry and give to others what was so graciously given to me - helping others become more ACTIVE, stronger, healthier and happier.
